Senior Business Analyst – Brussels

We are looking for a Business analyst for one of our client based in Brussels.

Function

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

The tasks to be performed include:

– Provide expertise for the IT strategy and the IS business architecture.

– Elaboration of functional and non-functional requirements and business caseanalysis.

– Perform business process analysis and business process modelling.

– Eliciting and specifying requirements with use cases.

– Draft and review use cases and other technical documents together with ITproject staff to ensure business requirements will be adequately implemented.

– Follow-up of tasks and provide quality assurance of implementation deliverables.

– Acts as a liaison between end-users, technical analysts, information technologyanalysts, consultants and other organizations in the analysis, design,configuration, testing and maintenance of IT systems to ensure optimaloperational performance.

– Work together with the users to perform functional requirements and businesscase analysis. Negotiate with the users the functionalities to be delivered.

– Identify opportunities for improving business processes through informationsystems and/or non-system driver changes. Assists in the preparation ofproposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes.

– Assist with the production of user acceptance plans, business cases and projectcharters.

– Provide work direction to technical staff and acts as a team lead on designatedprojects or assignments.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

– In-depth knowledge of information systems matters and business processesanalysis.

– Very good critical and creative thinking skills.

– Very good analytical and problem-solving skills.

– Quick learning ability is required as well as teamwork spirit and ability tointegrate in a multilingual and multicultural environment.

– Pro-active, motivated, pragmatic and diplomatic behavior is required.

– Very good communication skills, written and oral.

– Very good knowledge of software development processes.

– Experience writing reports and project artefacts (e.g., business cases, Projectcharters documents).

– Strong capacity to give high-level presentations.

– Good understanding of the Commission business processes is an asset.

– Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook.

– Very good knowledge of Agile principles and the Scrum framework.

– Good knowledge of SHAREPOINT (as a user) is an asset

– Good knowledge of Balsamiq is an asset

– Previous working experience in the European Commission is an asset

– Knowledge of the information systems used in the Commission (and particularlyin the SG) is an asset.

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE

The proposed candidates should have the following specific expertise

– Very good knowledge of, and experience with RUP, UML or BPMN.

– Good knowledge of, and experience with modelling and analysis tools (e.g Visio,Gliffy, Enterprise Architect).

– Good knowledge of, and experience with drafting functional use cases

– Good knowledge of, and experience with Jira
